Empowering Secondary School Girls Through "Girls Lead Clubs"

When we started running the "Rescue Women Girls' Scholarship" programme in 2014, we did not envisage creating a club for girls. But the need to start a "Girls Lead Club" came when we discovered that paying school fees and providing other school supplies for girls is not enough to ensure girls retention rate in school. Last year, we decided to create clubs in rural secondary schools to teach to teach the girls:
-Importance of education
-Sexual and Reproductive Health issues
-Teenage pregnancies and abortions
-Early and forced marriages
-Menstrual cycle and menstrual hygiene management
-Inces
-Leadership
-Self esteem building
-Public speaking and
-More

So far, we meet the girls on a monthly basis to have an interactive session with them on the topics listed above and we also offers skills training on different income generating activities. The girls don't ever want to miss a club appointment.
